President William Ruto has assured people from the Nyanza region that they will get development projects despite how they voted in the August 2022 elections.

Speaking in Siaya on Friday, Ruto cautioned Nyanza people against being duped that they will be sidelined in development because of not voting for the Kenya Kwanza regime.

"Watu wa Nyanza, mtu asiwaambie mko nje ya serikali (Nyanza people don't be told you are not part of government) because this government is for all Kenyans and you all pay taxes. I will ensure that no region will be sidelined on matters of development at the expense of politics," he said

"It is primitive and backward for anybody for anyone to imagine that any region of Kenya cannot get development on account of how they voted. That is not right, not correct," Ruto added.

The Head of State further assured Kenyans that moving forward, all leaders will unite together to bring development to the citizens.

Ruto said that the debt that his government is going to have is for development.

"We have agreed to put politics behind us and unite on things that bring Kenyans together," he said.

On a light note, President Ruto told the people of Siaya that he would be visiting the region more often.

"Nitazunguka hapa hadi mnizoea.Nataka tuzoeane," he said.

This loosely translates to: I will roam here in Siaya until you get used to me.

Ruto vowed to work with leaders from the region to ensure that all projects are implemented.

"I want to give my commitment that we are going to work with you (leaders) to make sure that all regions of Kenya get development and make sure people of Kenya benefit from their government, taxes and resources," he said.

The President has embarked on an extensive development tour of opposition chief Raila Odinga's Luo Nyanza heartland.

The President's four-day tour comes amid calls from a section of political leaders from the region to suspend the trip over the Sondu clashes.

The clashes between two communities living along the border have so far claimed seven lives with some politicians from Luo Nyanza threatening to snub the president's tour.

This would be the second major and extensive development tour of the four Luo Nyanza counties since his election last year.

The first of such a high-level tour was in January when he traversed Kisumu, Migori, Homa Bay and Siaya counties, commissioning development projects.

The President will commission projects touching on various sectors including agriculture, MSME development, housing and settlement, universal health coverage and the Digital superhighway and creative economy.
