Popular sports commentator Sean Cardovillis's last moments on social media painted a picture of a man who was active and seemingly in high spirits.

His last posts on Twitter were not different in tone to many others he had made earlier.

As a man who had a soft spot for motorsport, Sean kept his followers abreast on matters concerning the activity.

In a video post he made 23 hours ago, Sean updated his over 22,000 followers on the ongoing Greece Rally.

"Update: SS4 was cancelled for safety reasons due to spectators being found in “no go areas”," read the post.

Some minutes earlier, he notified his followers that he would host Budapest World Athletics gold medalist Faith Kipyegon in a scheduled interview at Capital FM.

"Exclusive: 3:30pm on Saturday Music and Sports, only on @CapitalFMKenya," reads the post.

Capital FM noted that the recorded interview was scheduled to air at 2pm on Saturday, September 9.

However, the journalist was found dead in the morning at his house along Rhapta Road, Westlands where he lived alone.

Police officers said his body was found at his staircase by a cleaner who had gone to clean the area leading to his house on the fourth floor of an apartment, police and witnesses said.

It is not clear if he was leaving for work or had died Friday night, police said.

Witnesses said the cleaner raised the alarm and an ambulance arrived there. Police too visited the scene.

The medics declared him dead at the scene. They carried away his body to the mortuary.

Police said they are yet to know the cause of his death. An autopsy is planned on the body to establish the cause of the death as part of the probe.
