President Willaim Ruto on Sunday was gifted a portrait of himself during a church service at Bungoma.

Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga while presenting the portrait, commended Ruto on the initiative he took to start the Hustler Fund.

" Mr President this is a product of the Hustler fund.  This young hustler is an artist and he has decided to gift you a product of the Hustler fund," he said.

An overwhelmed President walked at the podium to receive the gift which cost Sh2000.

MP Kalasinga told the President that they would stand with him and support his initiative to support the hustlers.

"We shall stand with you because of what you are doing through the hustler fund. Our youths are getting creative and earning as a result of the hustler fund," he added.

At least Sh35 billion Hustler Fund has been disbursed to 21 million beneficiaries since it was launched.

Micro and Small Enterprises Authority board chairman James Mureu earlier this week said that out of the disbursed funds, Sh25 billion had been paid back.

He said 7.5 million beneficiaries have received the loan multiple times, an indication that it had benefited them.

“The interest rates are low. We are making the unbanked bankable and stopping the question of collateral and using credit rating. Keep servicing your debt and improve your credit scores for you to be able to get more and more figures out of your credit scores,” Mureu said.

President Ruto’s Hustler Fund is one of the flagship projects he promised during his campaigns.

A person must be at least 18 years old and have a valid national identification card, a registered SIM card, and a mobile money account with Safaricom, Airtel, or Telkom to qualify.

The fund is specifically designed to support small-scale traders in the country.

The Hustler Fund comprises four products: personal, micro business, SME, and start-up loans.

To access the fund, Kenyans can dial *254# on their mobile phones.
