Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago will today be arraigned before a Nakuru court over numerous graft-related charges.

On Wednesday, the court issued a warrant for arrest against Mandago and three other county officials in relation to the Sh1.1 billion Finland education program.

This was after he failed to show up in Nakuru court for plea-taking. He was arrested at his residence and taken to the DCI regional office in Nakuru. He had earlier claimed that he was on his way to the court.

The senator is among three other county officials in the spotlight over the Finland and Canada Overseas Education Programme.

President William Ruto on Wednesday told those who allegedly stole millions from parents in the education programme to return the money.

He said the fiasco was embarrassing and would not allow such to happen again.

Ruto who spoke in Eldoret town said it was an embarrassment for anyone to steal money meant for the education of young people in Uasin Gishu.

He said those involved should carry their cross.

So far Mandago has recorded a statement with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to aid in the probe.

Also in courts, the High Court will rule how the murder case of former Kabete MP George Muchai will proceed.

This is after four of the seven accused persons had requested it to start afresh.

Three of them wanted it to proceed where Justice Justus Bwongonga left it. All the accused persons are out on a cash bail of Sh500,000.
