Azimio leader Raila Odinga now says the Kenya Kwanza side sent a weak team to face a stronger delegation of the opposition side in the renewed bipartisan talks.

Speaking on Tuesday in Makueni, Raila likened the Kenya Kwanza delegation to a third-division squad that's up against a first-choice team of the Azimio.

"We have now agreed to have talks, our team is led by Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, that is Azimio's first 11. They brought us, third division team," Raila said.

The opposition chief was addressing residents of Emali town where he had stopped for a brief meet and greet session on his way to the funeral of one of the protesters who died during the Azimio demos in July.

His remarks came amid a stalemate on the agenda of the fresh talks.

Kenya Kwanza and Azimio are yet to reach a consensus.

The dialogue teams met on Monday for talks but the meeting was adjourned before members agreed on the agenda of the discussions.

The Dialogue Committee and the technical teams left the venue without giving the media any details of the discussions after a two-hour deliberation at the Bomas of Kenya.

The Azimio delegation is led by Kalonzo with Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, Eugene Wamalwa, Okong'o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyanzi as members of the five-member Dialogue Committee.

They are assisted in the talks by a technical committee led by Jeremiah Kioni with Adams Oloo, Zein Abubakar and Isabel Githinji as members.

The Kenya Kwanza dialogue panel is led by Minority leader Kimani Ichung'wah assisted by Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire.

Other members of the five-member team include Hassan Omar and Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga.

Their technical team comprises Muthomi Thiankolu, Linda Musumba, Nick Biketi and Duncan Ojwang.

Azimio has listed five key issues they want discussed namely cost of living, audit of the 2022 presidential election results, restructuring and reconstitution of the IEBC, respect of the autonomy of opposition parties and equity in inclusion in government.

The Kenya Kwanza side has listed the reconstitution of the IEBC, implementation of two-thirds gender rule, the entrenchment of the Constituency Development Fund, and the establishment, entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and embedment of the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary as the items for discussion.

Raila hinted a return to street protests if the talks fail to bear fruits.

"Wataongea, wakikubaliana sawasawa, wasipokubaliana tuko na wao."
