Bunge la Wananchi president Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho on Friday urged former President Uhuru Kenyatta to stand with embattled Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni.

Gaucho said Kioni had fought for the party despite an attempted 'coup' by some of its members.

"Uhuru tafadhali simama na huyu kijana Kioni. Amesimama imara na chama yako na naomba usimsahau," he told Uhuru.

Gaucho further urged the former Head of State to remain firm and stand with the party.

This week, former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni maintained that he is the legally recognised Jubilee party secretary general.

He affirmed that the former ruling party is in the opposition coalition, Azimio La Umoja, to stay.

Speaking during an interview with Radio Jambo, Kioni said he hopes that the High Court will soon settle the matter fairly and with finality.

"We shall fight to the bitter end," Kioni said on the legal battle that his faction has launched against a rival group led by former Kieni MP Kanini Kega.

The former MP said that the reason there is a fight for the heart and soul of Jubilee is that his faction rejected a scheme to have the party pull out of Azimio.

Kioni claimed the current administration was hatching what he termed a scheme to kill strong political parties from Mt Kenya because of their support for Azimio.
