Narc Kenya party leader Matha Karua has hit out at President William Ruto over recent attacks on former President Uhuru Kenyatta's family.

In a statement on Saturday, Karua said the attack on Uhuru's family subjects him to bitter verbal abuse.

"It is petty, vengeful and unacceptable for President William Ruto's regime to target Uhuru’s mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta and son Jomo, and to ceaselessly subject Uhuru the 4th president to unwarranted verbal diatribe. This must stop now," she said.

Her remarks came after former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta's security was withdrawn and later redeployed.

On Friday police officers allegedly raided the residence of Jomo, Uhuru's eldest son in Karen.

Speaking after the alleged raid, the former president said the state should stop intimidating his mother and children to get to him. He also vowed to protect his family.

Uhuru called on the Kenya Kwanza government to leave his family members alone.

"If they want let them take my security but give me my respect," Uhuru said.

Uhuru further stated that over the last few days, he has had security members of his mother withdrawn, an act he termed suspicious.

"You heard a whole minister of the government saying that he's going to do what, I don't know in front of my mother's house. People who have been guarding my mother for the last almost 5o years were withdrawn at night.

"I ask myself what does this government want? The fact that I've been silent doesn't mean I'm scared. Come for me," Uhuru said.

He went on to condemn the incident saying that he'll be taking up legal measures.

"This incident, I leave to my lawyers," he said.
