Damaged roads in Kisumu to cost atleast Sh200m - Murkomen

Says the money will be used to repair the roads

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen has said it will cost at least Sh200 million to repair roads damaged due to anti-government protests in Kisumu.

The CS was speaking in Isiolo County on Thursday.

"The roads that have been burnt and damaged for the past two weeks in Kisumu will need not less than Sh200 million for repair," Murkomen said.

Earlier last week Murkomen also said the damage done on the Nairobi Expressway could cost upwards of Sh700 million to repair

There are people out there making fun on social media about the cost of repairing the Expressway because they don't understand

"All machines used at the toll stations are not cheap and they are not like those sufurias they are putting on their heads. Those are very expensive machines," Murkomen said.

He added that taxpayers are the ones who will bear the burden of paying for the damages.
