Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has poked holes into the collection of signatures by Azimio.

Aukot said that the signature collection drive by the opposition was a waste of time.

Speaking during an interview with K24 TV,  he referred to the process as economic sabotage.

"To be honest this is lying to Kenyans and a waste of time time. Azimio is lying to Kenyans that if they collect 15m signatures, they will remove Ruto from office. It is a lie. The Constitution does not allow it.," he said.

The Thirdway Alliance party leader further explained that Azimio leader Raila Odinga has MPs in the National Assembly and should use them to his advantage.

"If I was Raila I would table a motion of impeachment because that is what the Constitution allows," Aukot added

Last Friday while addressing a Saba Saba rally at Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi, Azimio Leader Raila Odinga said the coalition targets 10 million signatures by next Friday, July 14.

The decision, Raila said, was necessitated by the government’s failure to address the opposition’s grievances including punitive taxes, high cost of living, electoral fraud and biased recruitment of electoral commissioners.

However, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua on Monday clarified said that the opposition was not interested in impeaching President William Ruto with the signature collection.

However, Karua said the signature collection provided a platform for Kenyans to express their grievances and disappointments.

On the same day,  Raila fired up his supporters for countrywide street protests on Wednesday, saying he will get 15 million signatures instead of 10.
