First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto has urged Kenyans to reconnect with their alma maters and find a way to give back to their communities.
She said this in a statement on Wednesday after holding a meeting with the members of the Butere Girls Alumni Association Council at State House, Nairobi.
"Alumni associations play a vital role in schools, fostering links and providing invaluable mentorship to current students and support to the institution as a whole," she said.
She also noted that they provide networks for experienced professionals who provide career guidance and educational resources to students.
The meeting was a follow-up to her visit to the school, where she is also an alumna on June 9, 2023.
Then, the First Lady by supporting the students' academic aspirations, gets empowered to create a better world for themselves and others.
She encouraged them to focus on their studies and work to achieve their goals.
She said children are the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers of society.
It was not her first visit to Butere Girls. In 2017, Mama Rachel attended the Alumni Weekend Mentorship.
She caused a stir online when she was spotted donning the school's full uniform from head to toe.
