In his plan to eliminate graft in accessing government services, President William on Friday launched the eCitizen Mobile Application.

The app dubbed Gava Mkononi is expected to bring over 5,000 government services under one roof allowing Kenyans to conveniently access critical government services in the comfort of their homes.

Other goals, the platform seeks to achieve include increasing revenue collection by minimising leakages, a headache that has existed with the manual collection of taxes.

The app can be downloaded online before a user progresses to creating an account by inputting the necessary information.

Some of the required crucial details are the name of the user, National Identity Card, email address and phone number.

One can register either as a citizen, foreigner, or resident using the platform.

Once registered, Kenyans can browse through the numerous government services.

Kenyans can pay for all services via mobile money and debit cards.

Some of the services offered on the Gava Mkononi include those offered by the Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority, Hustler Fund, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

Also, business registration services, police clearance, civil registration services, foreign nationals' initial registration, and the directorate of immigration services will also be made available.

Kenya Kwanza government marked a milestone as 5000 out of 7000 government services have been digitised.

Last December, the government announced that all payments for government services shall be made through the E-citizen portal.

Ruto said Kenyans should be able to pay for government services from the comfort of their homes without necessarily going to places physically.

He said digitisation is already making huge strides to seal loopholes in matters collecting tax.

Ruto also announced that the government will shut down over 1,000 pay bills for government services in the next 90 days.

He unveiled one pay bill,  222222 to be used for all government services.

The President said there is a problem with the many pay bills that are available and cannot be accounted for.

"Apart from making sure that there is no multiplicity of pay bills by government agencies. No citizen should be told to pay for the service using this pay bill. All Kenyans must know that if they have to pay for the government services it has to be 222222," he said.
