Thirdway Alliance Kenya party leader Ekuru Aukot has cautioned that taking a Safari Rally test drive was a reckless action by President William Rut.

This is after Ruto took a moment on Wednesday to experience the thrill that comes with a motor racing car.

Responding to a Twitter post that showed Ruto being driven around, Aukot claimed the driver was endangering the President’s life.

“This is irresponsible and endangering the president,” Aukot said.

During the ride, Ruto wore full black rally attire and was helped to put on a helmet.

His driver, a safari rally professional, rode him at a high speed through the rough, unpaved road.

However, Ruto said the experience was great and a life-changing adventure.

“I have never known something like this exists. I got into the rally car and it was quite something, my stomach almost gave way," he said.

"It was a wonderful experience, it is great really and absolute madness but it is an experience you cannot forget. The speed, you can hardly see the road, the bents and they are really professional."

When asked if he could try it again, the President laughed saying he is not sure.

He said Kenyans have an emotional connection with the rallies because they grew up watching the races.

"I did not know people were enjoying much, we always watch from outside but today I have experienced it," he said.
