Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo on Tuesday shared the contents of the Finance Bill of 2023 with the people of his constituency.

This happened after the issuance of bursary cheques to more than 2,000 university, tertiary college, and high school students.

“I did this to ensure that my constituents gained a better understanding of its clauses and also allow them to make informed choices,” he said.

He was accompanied by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah.

Ngogoyo and Ichung'wa took the opportunity to engage in an informative discussion about the Finance Bill of 2023.

Ngogoyo said their goal was to provide a better understanding of the bill's contents to the constituents of Kajiado North.

Ichung'wa acknowledged the prevalence of misinformation surrounding the Finance Bill, stressing the importance of accurate information to facilitate informed decision-making.

Highlighting the urgency of the matter,  Ichung'wa emphasised that; "There is more disinformation on the Finance Bill out there than there is information on it."

"By addressing this information gap, the parliamentary representatives aimed to empower their constituents with the knowledge needed to comprehend the bill's implications fully," he said.

The two MPs said they will support the bill in parliament because there is a need for the country to go forward without depending on grants and loans from donors.

“The country can create its source of revenue for running government projects and paying workers. We need to understand that we cannot continue borrowing heavily to be able to fund our projects," Ngogoyo said.
