DPP Noordin Haji is set to face a parliamentary vetting panel on Tuesday as he seeks to become the country’s next spy chief.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director-General nominee will appear before National Assembly’s Defense, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee for vetting.

The Belgut MP Nelson Koech-led panel will vet the nominee at 2 pm at Parliament Building in Nairobi.

Azimio leaders to meet MPs

All eyes are on Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta as opposition leader Raila Odinga chairs a special Parliamentary Group [PG] meeting of all Azimio MPs.

Raila will lead the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya PG at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Command Centre in Karen to strategise on how to oppose the Finance Bill, 2023.

The key meeting will also discuss the resumption of the stalled bipartisan talks with Kenya Kwanza amid fears they are teetering on the verge of collapse.

Gaucho to be arraigned 

Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho, who was arrested outside City Hall by undercover police on Monday will be arraigned today.

The reason for his arrest is yet to be known.

There are reports that police had been looking for him since Saturday, May 27.

Body of missing man found  in Mandera

The body of a man who had been missing for three days was found buried in a shallow grave in Takaba, Mandera County.

Police said the body was recovered from Kotokoto forest and later identified as that of Hassan Mohamed Salat aged 55.

He had been killed and buried in the grave, police said, adding they are investigating the murder.

Kura advertises Sh8.4 billion tender for ITS

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) calls on bidders to apply for the Sh8.4  million tender for the Nairobi Intelligent Transport System (ITS) phase one project.

The main objective of the project is to decongest the city, promote road safety and enhance urban mobility.

iPhone maker hikes pay ahead of new model launch

Apple supplier Foxconn is ramping up efforts to recruit more workers for the world's largest iPhone factory, ahead of the launch of a new model.

Foxconn says new workers at its plant in Zhengzhou, China will receive bonuses of up to 3,000 yuan ($424; £343) for at least 90 days of work.

Current employees who successfully refer a friend or family member will also qualify for an award, it says.

The iPhone 15 is expected to be launched in September.
