Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has told off President William Ruto, over his interest in the Jubilee party.

Speaking on Monday, Uhuru questioned Ruto's motive if he believes the party is indeed dead.

The former head of state told delegates that the party remains firm and is very much alive, thus the interest from the Kenya Kwanza administration.

"Mnasema kwamba chama chetu imekufa, nani ana haja na maiti jamani? Kama imekufa why are you interested? Ukiona wanaitafuta jua haijakufa. We are very much alive na wataiona," Uhuru said.

(You say our party is dead. Who is interested in a corpse? If it's dead why are you interested? If you see them looking for it just know it is not dead. We are very much alive and you will see)

Uhuru was reacting to attempts by the ruling party to have Jubilee elected leaders back the government.

Pro-Ruto MPs led by EALA MP Kanini Kega have formed their faction within the party and do not recognise Uhuru as the party leader.

Uhuru during his address called on those who feel uncomfortable being in Jubilee to leave the party and go wherever they want.

He told off President William Ruto over the recent attempt to 'hijack' Jubilee Party

Uhuru said that he will not be moved and shaken by threats.

"Kuna wale ambao wanadhani kazi yao ni ya vitisho. Lakini sasa wajaribu mwingie , sio mimi," he said.

(Some think their work is all about threats. I want to tell them to try others, not me.)
