Two suspects were at the weekend arrested after they attacked and robbed a lorry with transit goods in Kericho.
Police said the robbery incident took place on May 21 along Muhoroni-Kipsitet Road in the Bangla area.
Police from Kipsitet police station while on patrol, encountered a motor vehicle Mitsubishi Fuso driven by two men, with farm produce to Busia from Tanzania.
Then, the duo was being robbed by five gangsters, which had cut the rear canvas of the vehicle.
It was then that the officers reacted and arrested two suspects and recovered two homemade guns fitted with five rounds of .22mm ammunition, a metallic axe, a kitchen knife, two torches and a mobile phone.

Police spokesperson Dr Resila Onyango said more patrol teams have been put on the route to tame the trend.
She added other routes are also affected to address the menace.
“We have more teams patrolling the major highways to tame any form of robberies,” she said.
The most affected area is Molo area on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway where the transit lorries are usually attacked by thugs.
Meanwhile, police in Nairobi’s Kariobangi area arrested two suspected notorious muggers at Kariobangi Roundabout Area.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they recovered assorted mobile phones some of which were dismantled, one portable electronic scale, and two handbags all suspected to have been stolen.
"We have enhanced security in the city to address such issues. We need the support of the public," he said.
Cases of robberies have been on the rise with police promising to tame the trend.
