Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has given President William Ruto tips on how he can succeed in fighting corruption.

On Sunday, the lawyer said that the contaminated sugar and Kemsa are Ruto's first test in the fight against corruption.

Ahmednasir shared five tips the Head of State can use to fight graft.

He urged the President not to have any cover-ups and sacred cows while dealing with corruption.

The Senior Counsel also urged Ruto to allow the police to do their work and to follow due process.

He also reminded the President that all Kenyans are equal before the law.

President has insisted that corrupt individuals in his administration will not be condoned.

He said that anyone who is found guilty of corruption will face the law.

"Yeyote atapatikana na kua ametumia mali ya uma vibaya, nimeambia marafiki zangu na wale ambao sio marafiki wangu kua wafanye kazi kwautaratibu," Ruto said.

(Anyone who will be found guilty of corruption will face the wrath, I have told all my friends and those who are not my friends to work diligently)

Last week, Ruto's words were put to the test.

The President sent packing the Kemsa board of directors and suspended Kemsa CEO Terry Ramadhani and eight top officers from the Ministry of Health and Kemsa.

Ruto on last Tuesday during a Cabinet meeting at State House warned  Cabinet Secretaries over corruption and wastage, demanding integrity in providing services.

β€œThe Cabinet must honour their responsibility to the Constitution and the people. Corruption and wastage of resources will not be tolerated,” a State House dispatch read.

The developments sparked talk about a change of approach in the graft war by Ruto's administration.

A day after, President Ruto ordered the suspension of 27 officers, including Kebs managing director Bernard Njiraini in connection with the illegal sugar.

The sugar in question was imported to the country in 2018 but was flagged by KEBS over the expiry date specification.

Kebs marked the 20,000-50 kgs bags of sugar as unfit for human consumption.
