Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi now wants President William Ruto to stop children and spouses of members of his cabinet not to be involved in state dealings.

The lawyer said that relatives of the political class in Kenya and other African countries are primary players in corrupt government deals.

Ahmednasir gave an example of the recently outed Sh3.7 billion Kemsa saga and the reports of contaminated sugar released to the market.

Speaking on Friday, he said the head of state needs to draw the line on this matter.

"Spouses/children of the political elite in a 3rd world country like Kenya are primary players in corruption/shady deals(i.e Kemsa and contaminated sugar) H.E @WilliamsRuto should draw a red line & never allow spouses/kids of his cabinet to pull strings ala Kemsa/contaminated sugar," he said.

In the two cases, the names of politicians and senior people in government have highly featured.

At Kemsa, President Ruto fired the entire board and senior staff. He went on to appoint Irungu Nyakera as the new chairperson.

Health CS Susan Wafula has also gazetted the appointment of four new board members, including Hezbon Oyieko Omollo, Bernard Kipkirui Bett, Jane Masiga and Jane Nyagaturi Mbatia.

The new team has since assumed office.

Following the contaminated sugar issue, Ruto suspended 27 officials over the illegal sugar.

Among those sacked are Kebs Managing Director Benard Njirani and other senior officials of the Kenya Bureau of Standards.

Other Kebs officials suspended include Dr Geoffrey Muriira, Director Quality Assurance and Inspection, Hilda Keror, Manager Inspection, Mombasa Port Office, Liston Lagat, Assistant Manager, ICDN Nairobi, Rono Birgen Chief Manager, ICDN Nairobi, Stephen Owuor, Principal Officer and  Peter Olima Joseph - Inspector, Mombasa.
