Ruto won't spare anyone involved in graft – Cherargei

He said it is painful when people pay taxes and are not properly utilized because of corruption.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has said there is no room for corruption in the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking on Wednesday, the legislator said President William Ruto will not spare anyone found involving themselves in graft.

“We have told you to pay tax, however high or might you are close with the President, he will deal with corruption,” Cherargei said.

The Senator said it is painful when people pay taxes and are not properly utilized because of corruption.

“I can confirm that people working in government have been told that there is no room for corruption or laxity because Kenyans are paying taxes. Anybody within government caught with corruption, the president will mercilessly deal with you,” Cheragei added.

The UDA Senator said the President had already shown he was ready to deal with corruption.

“He (Ruto)  didn't say six months or one year but he said as the President he will address and fix it. The President even confirmed that he will never call the bodies charged with investigating corruption,” he said.

On Sunday, President Ruto pledged to take bold action following allegations of a scandal regarding the supply of mosquito nets.

As a result, Ruto sacked Health PS Josephine Mburu and the whole of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority board.

At the same time, Ruto appointed Irungu Nyakera as the chairperson of the KEMSA board.

On Tuesday, Ruto used his 5th cabinet meeting at State House to openly rebuke a minister over squabbles at his ministry.

The President told the Cabinet Secretary to his face and before his colleagues to stop the 'drama' or be ready to take responsibility.

The President's bold scold at the CS signalled his latest no-nonsense approach to the streamlining of operations at ministries amid claims of graft.
