DPP to supply media boss with evidence in threat to kill case

The accused is said to have committed offence through a series of threatening messages.

DPP Noordin Haji has been given more time to supply evidence documents to Capital FM's Group Commercial Director Farida Idris Mohamed who is facing charges of threatening to kill her former lover.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi allowed the DPP's request to supply witnesses' statements and all documentary evidence before the pretrial on May 15, 2023.

The directive by the court comes after Mohamed through her lawyer Peter Wanyama informed the court that the DPP is yet to supply her with all documentary evidence.

The court heard that the pre-trial conference set for yesterday could not proceed due to lack of evidence documents.

In the case, Farida has since denied seven criminal charges of threatening to kill her former boyfriend Hussein Aila Amaro who was also a business partner.

The media house director is said to have committed the offence through a series of threatening messages.

According to the prosecution, Farida sent her former lover messages on June 14, 2019, that he would eliminate him together with his current girlfriend Swarna.

In count one, Farida was charged that on June 14, 2019, at 1014 jours at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya without lawful excuses caused Hussein to receive short messages written: "Now tell me what you will do to me and you see l will finish you and Swarna combined."

"l will kill you with my own hands and drag your body on the hot tarmac until nobody can recognise that rotten body of yours then bury you before you proceed to hell."  the charge sheet shows.

She was also charged with sending two other threatening messages to the complainant on June 15, 2019 at 1932 hours.
