Nairobi, Kiambu counties lead in crime cases - survey

Machakos county bottled the top five most reported cases at 3,813.

Nairobi and Kiambu counties are leading in crimes reported to police stations in 2022, the economic survey 2023 has said.

The two counties recorded 8,512 and 7,844 reported cases respectively.

The cases are a significant increase from 2021 and 2020 where the two counties recorded 6,686 and 5,844 - Nairobi while Kiambu had 5,715 and 4,353 respectively.

In the survey for 2022, Meru County was third with 5,698 and Nakuru County was fourth with 4,514 cases.

Machakos County bottled the top five most reported cases at 3,813.

Murang'a had 2,696 cases, Bungoma 2,668, Kisii 2,641, Mombasa 2,321 and Kitui 2,314 cases close the top 10 mark.

The Bottom 10 reported crime cases featured; Narok 784, Garissa 728, Elgeyo Marakwet 724, Marsabit 640, West Pokot 620, Samburu 534, Tana River 459, Lamu 431, Wajir 392, and Mandera 337.
