Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has said that taking part in the bipartisan talks is Azimio leader Raila Odinga's best bet.

According to the senator, Raila should allow his representatives in the talks to have a sit down with the Kenya Kwanza counterparts.

He said through this, they might come to a compromise.

"Rt Hon @RailaOdinga, the bipartisan talks present you with the best option. Allow members of your team to come we may reason together," Khalwale said on Wednesday.

His remarks came as he was reacting to a local daily's headline that explained why the opposition leader's Tuesday protests failed.

On Tuesday, Azimio representatives in the talks said it was not in their position to call off the protests.

The team led by MP Otiende Amollo said they did not have the capacity to do so.

"As a joint bipartisan team, we have never been mandated to discuss anything about demonstrations. It is not in our place to call on or call off protests," he said.

Otiende noted that some issues raised by the Kenya Kwanza coalition were unreasonable.

"You cannot take our member and put him on the team then come back and tell us to remove ours for you to do the same. That is illogical," he said.

Last week, the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza bipartisan committee said it was open to recusing Eldas MP Aden Keynan from the talks.

In what could be interpreted as a way to woo the Opposition into calling off planned protests, the team said Keynan will be dropped if there will be conflict during the discussions.

As it stands, the bipartisan talks collapsed due to failure to agree on key issues around the talks.
