Kinyua to appear before MPs

Former Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua will on Thursday appear before MPs in an inquiry into the government’s Sh6.09 billion buyback of Telkom Kenya.

MPs launched an inquiry into the buyback after it emerged that National Treasury overruled the Controller of Budget in the transaction.

The government paid Sh6.09 billion to acquire a 60 per cent stake in Telkom Kenya from a UK-based private equity fund, just four days before last year’s General Election.

Kidero's graft case

Trial Magistrate Douglas Ogoti has been presiding over the case since 2018 when the accused persons were first arraigned in court but he was transferred to Kisumu.

Kidero says his recent transfer to Kisumu is likely to affect the speedy conclusion of the case.

Controversial Telkom Kenya deal

Bishop Deya child theft case

Controversial Bishop Gilbert Deya will on Thursday proceed with his defence hearing in a child theft case.

The last time the matter was in court, the case failed to kick off. The trial Magistrate was taken ill and pushed it to today.

In the case, the Bishop is charged with five counts of stealing five children, all aged below 14 years at Mountain View estate between 2002 and 2004.

Raila heads to Murang'a

Showdown looms between police and Azimio La Umoja coalition leaders over a town hall meeting set to be held in Murang'a town on Thursday.

The coalition’s party leader Raila Odinga insisted that he will preside over the meeting, despite the police directive that barred the gathering.

Raila invited residents to turn up in large numbers and freely engage on the issues affecting them.
