Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has asked President William Ruto to reconcile with former President Uhuru Kenyatta for the sake of the country.

Ngunyi said that their reunion will ensure the stability and safety of the country.

"Dear Ruto, to stabilize this country, make peace with Uhuru Kenyatta. Forgive him for betrayal. If the two of you unite, the country will be safe," he said.

Ngunyi, who was Uhuru's technical assistant, described the retired president as a man with a beautiful soul.

In his statement, he clarified that in his advice, he was not speaking on Uhuru's behalf.

"Under Uhuru, we waited too long to fix simple problems. I do not speak for Uhuru. But I know he has a beautiful soul," he said.

Ruto served with Uhuru as his deputy for two terms from 2013 to 2017, and from 2017 to 2022.

The two fell out shortly after the disputed 2017 polls at a time when Uhuru wanted to relinquish his power as President.

The crack in the political relationship worsened after the March 9, 2018 truce between Uhuru and opposition chief Raila Odinga, which was marked with the infamous 'Handshake'.

Ruto has on numerous occasions, since 2018, blamed Uhuru for the same, saying the handshake saw the deterioration of Kenya's economy.
