IEBC to appear before MPs

IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan is scheduled to appear before Justice and Legal Affairs Committee regarding delayed payments to election officials who oversaw Bungoma by-elections in December 2022.

Concerns have been raised that during the August 9 elections, payment to the IEBC officials was done after just two weeks. After the by-election, however, officials waited for months for the pay.

MP’s bodyguard arrested after shooting incident 

A bodyguard was arrested after shooting two in a confrontation in Umoja on Wednesday.

The confrontation was between supporters of sitting MP Mark Mwenje and former MP George Theuri supporters.

The bodyguard is attached to Embakasi West Member of Parliament Mark Mureithi Mwenje.

Witnesses said the incident happened when a group allied to former area MP George Theuri stormed a meeting called by Mwenje prompting a clash at a swimming pool in Umoja 1 area.
