Fishermen and officers from the Kenya Coast Guards Services  have recovered two of the three bodies of the men who drowned in Lake Oloidien two days ago while fishing.

This came as the team embarked on a joint mission to search for the third body following the night incident that occurred after their boat capsized in the small water body near Lake Naivasha.

On Tuesday night, a boat carrying four fishermen capsized in the water-body with one of the men managing to swim to safety.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the recovery of the two bodies, adding that they had been taken to the local mortuary.

“Local fishermen with the help of officers from Coast guards have managed to recover two of the bodies of the fishermen,” he said.

According to Amos Mwathi, a resident, the four had stolen a boat on the shores of the lake before the accident occurred due to strong winds.

“The search for the third body is on and although the strong winds are affecting the exercise, we are optimistic we shall get it,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the two students who were hit by a bus ferrying flower farm workers in Naivasha has succumbed to injuries.

The Form 1 boy died in Naivasha sub-county hospital where he was undergoing treatment following the Tuesday accident that left the motorcycle rider dead.

The operator was ferrying two students from Oserian High to school when the bus driver veered off the lane along Moi South Lake and knocked them down.

The rider died on the spot while the boy and another Form 3 student were seriously injured.

The OCPD said they have launched a manhunt for the driver who fled from the scene soon after the accident.

“We have lost one of the students to injuries and the other one is undergoing treatment as we seek the driver involved to record a statement,” he said.
