The Anti-terrorism Police Unit is mandated to mitigate and investigate terrorism-related cases in the country.

They also prevent, disrupt and interdict terrorist activities within the country.

It was not clear what their role is in the Matiang’i case.

Earlier, his lawyers said the former CS had only been grilled for 15 minutes but was being held by the DCI as they 'consult'.

This is despite him having an anticipatory bail.

Matiang'i arrived at the sleuths headquarters on Tuesday morning for grilling following a summon by detectives on Monday.

He was expected to be grilled over claims of publication of false information.

Matiang'i was accompanied by lawyers Danstan Omari, Otiende Amollo and Okongo Omogeni, among others.

Matiang’i is accused of spreading false information about an alleged raid at his Karen residence by a group of police officers between February 8 and 9, 2023.

Some of the charges that have been put against the former CS is that he caused the publication of false information contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act of 2018 among other offences.
