The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) is on Friday set to unveil the first migrant resource center in Nairobi.

The center was put up by the union through the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and UK Aid.

It will help in generating and updating labour market information as well as analyse migrant data to be used as an advocacy tool to raise awareness on labour rights for workers including migrant workers.

"The center will disseminate all this data to our solidarity and social partners through online campaigns and other methods as may be relevant," reads a statement.

The resource centre will also serve as the labour migration desk and will be attending to walk-in migrant workers seeking information on labour migration.

The creation of the unit is set to come as a relief to migrant workers in the country.

The Union has continued to record many cases of violation of their rights through unfair labour practices.
