Two children have died after their parents' house was razed down by fire in Mbooni, Makueni County.

The duo; a girl aged 3 and a boy 2 years old died following the Friday morning incident which occurred at Kanyenyoni village in Mbooni East sub-county.

Mbooni East deputy county commissioner John Cheriyot said the minors were inside the house when it was consumed by the inferno.

"We want to assure this family, leaders and residents of this village that we will continue with investigations. This morning we had DCI here who processed the scene, we ask residents, and family members to also help us with the investigations," Cheriyot said.

Cheriyot said it was important to conduct the investigations, and know the course of the fire and what generally transpired leading to the incident that claimed the children's lives.

He said the girl died on the spot, while the boy was on his way to the hospital where he was being rushed.
