Some regions in the country are set to experience rainfall in the next seven days, the latest forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department shows.

The weatherman in a seven-day forecast for February 28 to 6 March 2023 predicted rainfall will be experienced in Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin for the duration of the forecast.

“Rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin as well as the South and Central Rift Valley during the first half of the forecast period,” the forecast read.

The rainfall expected in those areas will range from 10mm – 50mm.

The same forecast by the Meteorological Department predicted other parts of the country will remain sunny over the same prediction period.

“The rest of the country is likely to be generally sunny and dry. Average daytime (maximum) temperatures are likely to be high (more than 30°C) over most parts of the country,” the rest of the forecast read.

The department also predicted low temperatures will be experienced in some areas of the country.

“Average night-time (minimum)temperatures are likely to be low (less than 10°C) over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the North Rift Valley,” the forecast read.

The rains will come at a highly needed time for those in the regions but it will be another long wait for millions of Kenyans living in arid and semi-arid lands who are facing starvation due to prolonged periods of drought.
