Five charged with stealing urine specimen containers

Five people accused of stealing 20 boxes of urine specimen containers from the Ministry of Health were on Wednesday charged before a Nairobi court.

Humphrey Magui, John Kiema, Antony Micheru, Paul Karanja and Wanjiru Gituku were accused that on February 21 at Kilimani area within Nairobi County, jointly with others not before court, stole the urine specimen containers valued at Sh184,000 from the Ministry of Health.

Kiema, Micheru and Karanja were also charged with an alternative count of handling stolen goods.

The five faced a second count that with others not before court, they conspired to commit a felony of stealing the urine specimen containers.

The accused denied the charges before Milimani chief magistrate Lukas Onyina and pleaded for lenient bond terms. The prosecution did not oppose their release on bail.
