He was accompanied by Peter Kimani, CP-Soops Rift Valley Region and Moses Murithi, CP-CPC Uasin Gishu among other officers from the Region.

He also wished the injured soldiers a quick recovery as they recuperate at the hospital facility.

"I wish all the soldiers a quick recovery and it is good to note that the officers are in high spirits," Odero said.

Initially, 9 officers had been injured as a result of the attack, out of which one was airlifted to Nairobi, two are still in High Dependency Unit (HDU), two were discharged today and 4 were treated and discharged earlier.

To fight bandits, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Monday declared parts of North Rift that have been affected by insecurity disturbed and dangerous.

This will pave way for the planned operations against the gunmen behind attacks hiding there.

The counties affected are Turkana, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Laikipia and Samburu.

Kindiki said during the last six months, marauding bandits have brutally murdered more than 100 civilians and 16 police officers in the Northern Rift Valley region of Kenya.

"The murderous gangs have in recent days escalated their terror on innocent Kenyans and law enforcement agencies and in the process burnt down schools, police vehicles and other social amenities," he said.

Kindiki added that the government has determined the security situation currently prevailing in the Northern Rift Valley region as a national emergency.
