The first batch of CBC learners will on Monday join Junior Secondary School (JSS) amidst utter confusion over teachers’ placement, uniforms and several other technicalities.

The more than 1.26 million learners will join JSS at a time the government is yet to finalize recruitment and deployment of the 30,000 teachers scheduled to teach in the newly introduced section of schools.

Police have said that at least 279 people were killed in cattle rustling incidents in 2022. This is as the government plans more operations in North Rift to curb the menace.

Obado court case

Rally driver Wahome's case

Celebrity rally driver Maxine Wahome's case will be mentioned on Monday to confirm whether she will be charged with murder following the death of her boyfriend Assad Khan.

Wahome and Khan quarrelled and fought at their Kileleshwa home leaving the man with serious injuries.

He was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital after the assault on December 12, 2022, before being transferred to Avenue Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries on December 18.

Wahome was held for assaulting her boyfriend but later released on bond.

When the matter came up for mention on January 12, prosecutors said the circumstances had changed and that Wahome was being investigated for murder.

New water police unit

Interior CS Kindiki will on Monday launch a water police unit.

The unit under the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) will be mainly tasked with protecting the water infrastructure across the counties against destruction.

Ministry of Water has said Sh10.6 billion is lost yearly through non-revenue water with vandalism, and illegal connections among the leading causes.

Ruto in Mombasa

President William Ruto will be in Mombasa where he will attend the Prosecutors Conference at Whitesands Hotel.

He will then attend a seminar with the National Assembly members seminar at Pride Inn Hotel, Mombasa.

Public participation on NPS improvement

Retired Chief Justice David Maraga will on Monday launch the Public participation exercise on police terms and conditions at the Bomas of Kenya.

He is the chair of the task force tasked with overseeing reforms of the National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service.

Electricity agencies press conference

Agencies in the electricity ecosystem will hold a joint press conference at Sarova Stanely.

The briefing is aimed at unbundling the proposed electricity retail tariff application for the traffic control period 2022/2023- 2025/2026.
