Nakuru MCAs approve Kihika's 23 Chief Officers

This is despite a court order that had barred the process.

Nakuru County Assembly has approved the names of 23 Chief Officers on Thursday morning.

This is despite a court order that  had barred the process pending hearing of a case filed through lawyer Allan Kibet.

Governor Susan Kihika twitted on Thursday that the Assembly had given her nominees the greenlight to serve as Chief Officers in various dockets.h

"The County Assembly of Nakuru has approved the following individuals for the positions of Chief Officers. H.E the Governor has subsequently appointed them as Chief Officers effective immediately," Kihika wrote on her verified Twitter account.

Judge David Nderitu of the Employment and Labour Relations Court issued orders stopping the vetting and or approval of 21 Chief officers nominees following an application filed by Michael Oduor. 

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika had suffered another setback after the Employment and Labour relations court in Nakuru quashed the nomination of 10 County Executive Committee Members.

Justice Hellen Wasilwa ruled that the appointment process was skewed, did not reflect the diversity of the county and should not be allowed to proceed.

"The court issues orders of judicial review quashing the first respondent press release or any document of the purported nominations and appointment of interested parties or any other person nominated without consideration of statutory and constitution provision as county executive committee members of Nakuru county government," the judge ruled.

Some of the chief officers approved include Abuki Alice(public health), Koech John(education), Kakai Everlyne(economic planning) and Alex Maina(resource mobilization) among others.
