Kenyans have rated President William Ruto's first 100 days in office and given him an overall grade C over his performance in fulfillment of pledges on the economy, governance, gender equality and infrastructure.
A survey released by Infotrak on Tuesday showed that majority of Kenyans are of the perceived view that Ruto has failed to deliver on his economic pledges save for the Hustler Fund which they rate highly at 55.8 per cent.
They gave the President an overall Grade D on this with a score of 49.2 per cent which they said needs urgent attention.
Some 46 per cent of the respondents said Ruto performed poorly on fulfilling economic pledges, 27 per cent said his performance was average, 16 per cent said he was good while only 11 per cent think he's been excellent.
"Allocation of additional funds to county governments to support selected economic activities 55.3 per cent, increasing the collection of taxes through use technology 52.9 per cent, improving the lives of low income earners, lowering the Cost of Living 42 per cent, and making food affordable and accessible to Kenyans," CEO Angela Ambitho said.
She said 840 respondents aged 18 years and above participated in the survey that was conducted between December 21– 22, 2022.
The survey had a 94 per cent response rate with ±3.4 per cent margin of error at 95 per cent degree of confidence.
It was conducted across all the 47 counties in Kenya's eight regions.
Rift Valley had the highest number of respondents (215), Eastern (126), Central (112), Nyanza (103), Nairobi (103), Western (81), Coast (76), North Eastern (34).
On fulfillment of governance pledges, Ruto got overall Grade C of 56 per cent with the appointing of the six Judges rejected by former President Uhuru Kenyatta ranking as the best achievement with a score of 57.2 per cent.
He got 54.5 per cent on reforming institutions involved in Justice, law and order even as 36 per cent of respondents said his performance on governance has been poor, 30 per cent said it has been average, 19 per cent said it was good while 16 per cent said it has been excellent.
On gender equality, majority of Kenyans said Ruto's performance needs improvement and awarded him a C with an overall score of 56 per cent.
Ruto, however, scored highly on establishment of women rights agency in the office of the president and other matters of gender 53.6 per cent and implementing the Two-Thirds Gender Rule at 52.5 per cent.
On fair appointment of women in senior public positions, he got 52.4 per cent.
The President scored his highest marks on delivering on the infrastructure pledges which Kenyans gave him a B of 60 per cent and urged him to keep it up.
They cited the return of Port operations to Mombasa as his biggest achievement and awarded the President a score of 59.9 per cent.
