Roots Party George Wajackoyah has taken Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua head-on over his remarks on the affairs of Nairobi county.

The DP warned Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja against implementing his plans to eject matatus from the CBD saying it would hurt businesses.

"I shall sit down with Sakaja because we are the ones who elected him. We must first discuss on anything which can disrupt business in Nairobi. We do not need a lot of speed, go slow," he said.

Wajackoyah, however, said the DP's utterances may disadvantage some sectors in the country and asked him to stop talking indiscriminately.

"Leave Sakaja alone," he said. "I urge all members of Parliament to be aware of Gachagua. He is failing President William Ruto and the words of his mouth might bring this country down."

Governor Sakaja had initiated plans to relocate long-distance matatus from the CBD to the newly built Green Park bus terminus on Haile Selassie Avenue.

Long-distance matatu operators, however, opposed the move and went to upon which the court temporarily stopped the relocation.

Sakaja, however, clarified to the court that the matatus have not been removed from the CBD as such.

He said they can still pick up passengers from the CBD but drop them off at the Green Park terminus.

The governor said he has had meetings with Sacco officials and they have all agreed to drop the passengers at the new bus park.
