“We are very happy to visit Israel Faith Children's Home and we will continue supporting them and others as part of giving back to society," she said.

The university donated foodstuffs, clothing items, toys, and stationery to more than 82 children.

Nyabisi said the items would cushion the children during this Christmas period.

She underscored that the exercise is part of the institution's Corporate Social Responsibility, which is inline with the university's norm to support the less unfortunate in society.

The director said their mission is to “create a platform to shape the minds of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by not only meeting their monetary needs but sustaining them through mentorship programs and various projects."

Finance, Administration, and Marketing registrar Suzanne Standa who spoke during the event called on the government to consider giving financial support to orphanages managed by individuals.

She recounted the efforts of the institution in reaching out to the vulnerable across Kenya over the years, adding that they will not relent in the effort.

Standa took the children through a talk about career paths and life in tertiary institutions as part of mentorship.

She appealed to individuals and organisations in the country to always remember orphanages as the needs of children in the homes are endless.

Israel Faith Children's Home director Nancy Githinji thanked MKU founder Simon Gicharu and the university's management for choosing them as this year's beneficiaries of their programme.

She said that the orphanage is seeking to accommodate more children in the future if accorded such support.
