Nandi  Senator Samson Cherargei has advised Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza to prepare her impeachment defence before the Senate and stop ranting.

Cherargei said impeachment was a political process adding that the County Assembly's decision was not final.

"Hii tufanyaje wadau naona MCAs hawachezi na mtu !!. Gov. Mwangaza just prepare your defence sideshows won't help you for now! Impeachment is a political process !" he said.

On the possibility of stopping the process through the courts,  Cherargei added that Senate has ruled before that court cases on impeachment cannot prevent Senate from deliberating the matter.

The Governor, who was impeached on Wednesday, posted on Facebook saying her tribulations were just another spiritual mission, adding that her administration was still intact.

"They have used millions of money. Sleepless nights. A lot of energy. Sponsored headlines. Engaging the public seriously. Connections with different types of people. Just to confirm what God wants them to do. A spiritual Mission (BRAND BUILDING)," Mwangaza reacted to her ouster.

On Wednesday, 67 out of 69 Meru MCAs voted in favour of an impeachment motion tabled by Member for Abogeta West and Minority Party Whip DMK Kiogora.

On Thursday, the Meru County Assembly brought the impeachment documents to the Senate.

The submission is in line with the county government’s Act that provides that the assembly speaker shall notify his senate counterpart of the House’s resolution within two days of the MCAs' decision.

"The speaker has seven days to convene the House after he receives the message from the speaker of Meru. After which we will have to deal with the matter within seven days," Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot told the Star.
