'Hustler' Fund update: Debt repayment crosses Sh1 billion mark

The Hustler Fund has hit another milestone after repayment crossed the Sh1 billion mark, Cooperatives and MSME Development Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui says.

According to CS Chelugui, Kenyans had repaid Sh1.1 billion from some Sh7.5 billion disbursed by 7 am today.

This, he said, translates to about 15 per cent of the total amount disbursed so far.

According to the data, slightly over 15 million Kenyans have been registered so far something CS Chelugui said was an indication of the confidence that Kenyans have in the Hustler Fund and Kenya Kwanza administration.

"We're very impressed with the progress so far and the figures are very encouraging... I also remind Kenyans to borrow and pay because that's the only way you can enhance your credit score," said CS Chelugui.

Chelugui further said that Kenyans have saved Sh377 million from some 13 million transactions.

At the same time, the number of Kenyans who have borrowed more than once now stands at 1.1 million.
