Azimio leader Raila Odinga has dismissed claims that he developed cold feet leading to the cancellation of parallel Jamhuri Day celebrations at Jacaranda grounds.

Speaking on Friday in Mombasa, the ODM leader said he fears no one as the event was cancelled because he will be travelling abroad.

"Ile mkutano tulikuwa nayo siku ya jumatatu imeahirishwa kwa sababu mimi sitakuweko. Sio eti kwa sababu sisi tunaogopa mtu yeyote. Nataka wakenya waelewe, wengine wanasema ati ooh Raila amekabwa, amekabwa na nani?" he asked.

(Our meeting on Monday was cancelled because I won't be around not because we are afraid. I want Kenyans to understand because some are saying I have been cornered, cornered by who?)

Raila revealed that he will leave the country on Saturday for the US where he will attend the US-Africa Summit next week at the invitation of President Joe Biden.

He said Biden invited him to the meeting in his official capacity as the AU Special Representative on Infrastructure.

"He has invited 49 African leaders to discuss US-Africa relations. I'm going to discuss with presidents and business leaders on infrastructural investment opportunities in Africa," Raila said.

He spoke when addressing the 4th Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani's Agribusiness and Blue Economy Investment conference in Mombasa.

Raila said the pre-campaign pledges he made to the business community in the coastal region on the Blue Economy and infrastructural development still stand even after what happened in the August polls.

The Azimio leader insisted that he won the presidential contest but the devil disrupted the plans.

"Kwa hivyo mimi nataka kuambia nyinyi ya kwamba sisi tuko na mpango hata kama sasa mambo yenyu imekuwa vile imekuwa lakini hiyo ni kazi ya shetani nina hakika Mungu atafanya kazi yake."

(So I want to tell you that we have a plan even though things went erratic but that is the devil's work but I'm sure God will intervene)

"Tulishinda uchaguzi, wezi wako pale. Lakini Mungu ya wakenya iko, tuna hakika kweli itatendeka."

(We won the election, the thieves are there. But God is there for Kenyans and I believe it shall come to pass)
