KCSE containers to be opened at 7am to reduce exposure

The national examination council has directed exam containers to be opened at 7am.

Initially, they would be opened at 6am.

Knec CEO David Njengere said opening them at 7am reduces the time at which the managers are in possession of the papers.

"We've been opening them at 6am, giving centres too much time with exam papers. That's why we reduced the time as we have seen there's no challenge," Njengere said.

He was speaking at Maina Wanjigi Secondary School in Eastleigh where he oversaw distribution of exams.

The Knec boss however, said a few centres in far flung areas across the country will be allowed to open at 6.30am.

He also said the second day of KCSE exam has began smoothly.

Njengere said most centre managers are collaborating to ensure credible exams.

"Across the country, 99 per cent of the officials are cooperating and doing the right thing. We just have a problem with the 0.01 per cent but we will deal with that," he said.
