The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has called on the counties that are yet to submit the names of the County Executive Committee nominees for integrity vetting and clearance to do so.
This has to be done prior to making any appointments.
The Commission is mandated with enforcing Chapter Six of the Constitution which deals with leadership and integrity.
"It has come to the attention of the Commission that in some counties, the nominees for the positions of CEC members are being approved for an appointment without being cleared by the Commission through the integrity vetting procedure," CEO Twalib Mbarak said.
He pointed out that compliance with the aforementioned Chapter Six is a mandatory requirement before any appointment in any public office.
Mbarak clarified that the requirement of Section 12A of the Leadership and Integrity Act, 2012 does not amount to clearance on integrity requirements under Chapter Six.
The Section requires the persons seeking appointment to submit to a public office a self-declaration to EACC, in the Form under the First Schedule.
