Ruto condoles with Tanzanians following air tragedy

President William Ruto has sent a message of condolence to the people of Tanzania following the tragic plane accident that claimed 19 lives.

The ill-fated plane crashed into Lake Victoria Sunday morning as it attempted to land at the at Bukoba Airport in stormy weather.

"Kenya mourns with the people of Tanzania following a tragic plane crash. We send our deepest condolences and wish all survivors of the Precision Air tragedy a quick recovery," Ruto said.

The list of victims released by Tanzanian authorities indicated that two Kenyans were aboard the Precision Air flight. 

One of the Kenyans was a co-pilot of the plane.

Of the 43 people onboard, 24 were rescued by first responders soon after flight PW 494 went down.

Grieving Tanzanians paid emotional tribute to the victims on Monday during the handover ceremony of the bodies to families.

Muslim and Christian clerics led the prayers at Kaitaba Stadium in Bukoba as hundreds of mourners wiped tears away following the country's worst air disaster in decades.
