A woman has been charged at a Kibera court for allegedly attacking her husband on the neck with a knife and attempting to kill him after a disagreement over a minor’s school fees.

Faith Anyango was charged with attempting to kill Clever Odhiambo Abongo on October 3 at Raila Slums in Lang’ata sub-county within Nairobi County.

She pleaded not guilty before Kibera senior principal magistrate Phillip Mutua.

The man was allegedly attacked after paying the woman a visit so that they could have a talk when a disagreement occurred over their child’s school fees.

In court, the prosecution said that the victim was still in a critical condition and urged the court not to release the suspect on cash bail.

It added that the nature of the offence was serious and the court needed to put many things into consideration before bond determinations.

After the attack, the man was rescued by some relatives who got him a taxi that drove him to the police station where a report was made before he was rushed to the hospital.

In court, the accused person through her lawyer urged the court for a lenient bond term.

The lawyer told the court that the accused person was not a flight risk and urged the court to grant him a cash bail.

The magistrate directed a probation report to be made ahead of bond determinations.
