President William Ruto on Wednesday prayed for Kenyan troops ahead of their departure for a peacekeeping mission in DRC.

The President made the prayer soon after his speech when he officially handed the East African Community Regional Force flag to the team.

"I would request all of us to be upstanding so that I can also say a prayer for these men and women," Ruto requested those in attendance.

He prayed for favour and wisdom as they work to stabilise the Eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The President also prayed for their protection.

The contingent of Kenyan soldiers will be on a peacekeeping mission in Eastern DRC.

The handing-over ceremony was held at the Embakasi Garrison in Nairobi.
