KNQA was set up in 2015 to help coordinate and harmonize education, training, assessment, and quality assurance of all qualifications awarded in the country.

His could- be final assessment as the boss at KNQA was upgrading KMTC’s higher national diploma to KNQA level 7.

He oversaw this development on October 29.

This makes it equivalent to a degree, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) III, Certified Public Secretary (CPS) or Master Craft Person I.

The authority said it decided after assessing the competency of college students who graduate with a higher national diploma from KMTC.

During his tenure, KNQA had a vicious fight over roles with the Vocational Education Training Authority .

The row was sparked by the KNQA’s move to charge fees on students, which TVETA feels are under its jurisdiction.

Lawmakers in the Public Investment Committee of the National Assembly on Thursday cited risks of liability on the part of the qualifications agency.

The concern is that there are certain issues that KNQA is doing which are the mandates of the Commission of University Education, TVETA, and KNEC.
