MPs affiliated to Azimio la Umoja coalition on Tuesday presented a report detailing why Agriculture CS nominee Mithika Linturi was, according to them, unfit to hold office.

The report comes after the conclusion of the vetting exercise that ended Saturday.

Linturi faced the parliamentary committee on appointment for vetting on Friday, 21.

In their report, Azimio cites questionable academic qualifications, attempted rape charges, and forgery in securing two loans as reasons why they deemed Linturi unfit for the CS post.

On academic qualifications, the report said Linturi failed to present a copy of an academic degree he says he acquired from an Indian University.

The Committee also raised concerns as to the authenticity of another university degree Linturi says he got from the University of Nairobi (UoN).

They cited that the university once wanted to discontinue the former county boss over forgery allegations in the past.

On the rape case, the report read that Linturi failed to explain rape charges against him but cited the sub judice rule as the reason for not delving into the details of the matter before the court of law.

The forgery allegations were tabled against him, the committee said he was going off-topic and answering questions that were not even asked by the Committee.

The members said Linturi did not pronounce himself on the forgery matter stating that it is allegedly pending in court.

"The members found Linturi unsuitable to hold public office due to the gravity of the allegations and the court cases against him, the integrity questions, allegations and cases raise and the unsatisfactory responses he provided. The members, therefore, rejected his nomination," reads part of the report.
