President William Ruto has arrived at Kibra Constituency in Nairobi where he is expected to launch Soweto East Zone B Social Housing Programme.

Ruto arrived in Kibera in a convoy of vehicles as photographers were busy taking pictures of him.

He is expected to preside over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Soweto B affordable housing programme in Kibra subcounty.

The president will launch the construction of 4,054 units for former slum dwellers in the Kibera Soweto B Social Housing Project.

The project is aimed at offering residents opportunity to become house owners through affordable ‘rent-to-own’ program from as low as Sh2400 per month.

State House Spokesman Hussein Mohammed said local manufacturers and Jua Kali sector are expected to provide various construction materials, as the Government’s seeks to turn the housing challenge into an economic opportunity and spur job creation.

Soweto B is the second AHP Ruto has launched since he was sworn into office. 

The President is seeking to make Nairobi the centre of Affordable Housing Projects.

Nairobi will have five ongoing projects for a total of 29,026 units by December.
