Police are investigating an incident in which unknown people broke into an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission warehouse in Nyeri and stole 82 power banks and an unknown number of Kiem Kits.

The bags used in storing the kits were open and it is not clear how many were missing.

The scene was sealed off before the police arrived there and processed it as part of investigations into the same.

The suspects escaped without injuring anyone and it is believed to be an inside job. The incident happened in Kingongo area.

An IT officer at the commission based in Nyeri reported the matter prompting police to start a probe.

No arrest has been made so far.

The area is among those where electoral disputes have been lodged in courts.

Police say no recovery has been made so far since the robbery took place last weekend and that officials found out long after it had happened.

The warehouses are usually manned by armed police officers.

IEBC officials in Nairobi said the matter is under investigation and that they would not comment further.
