Lawyer Miguna Miguna has expressed his delight after he arrived in Kenya after years in exile.

The Kenya airways plane carrying the outspoken lawyer landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport Thursday morning.

He was received by friends and relatives who had lined up to welcome him.

Speaking to journalists, Miguna thanked President William Ruto for enabling him to return to his home country.

"I am very grateful for the warm welcome you have given me and I am extremely happy to be back home," he said.

"I extend my gratitude to those who stood with me and the bill of rights in the constitution."

Miguna thanked the Judiciary who stood firm in the side of law to ensure he comes back home.

"I want to extend my gratitude to Kenyans who voted for Kenya Kwanza government because that is central for me. Without the administration, I would not be back home," he said.

"I want to thank everyone who worked tirelessly to ensure I am back. What happened to me should not have happened to anyone else."

Miguna was forced out of the country in 2018 and has since not been able to get back into the country despite several attempts.

Court orders instructing he be allowed into the country were ignored by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime.

Red alerts were also imposed against him thus blocking his chances of travelling back.
